Compulsory Basic Training - CBT

CBT is the DSA's first recognised form of basic motorcycling training.

Compulsory Basic Training is required for anyone wishing to ride a motorcycle or moped on public roads. The conclusion of the course is on public roads, so you must be in possession of a provisional licence with the relevant vehicle category on the licence which needs to be in date for the day of riding.

On successful completion of the CBT course you will be issued with DL196 CBT certificate this is valid for 2 years. This allows a learner legal moped or motorcycle up to 125cc with 'L' plates displayed front and rear to be ridden unescorted. The appropriate licence must be held by the rider, see below.

Bike hire. FMT hire CG125cc and 50cc mopeds for the CBT course.
