Theory Test
(Not the same as a car !)
You must be in possession
of a Theory Pass and CBT certificate before you can take a practical Test, you also book
this yourself !
The following category of
rider is exempt the Theory Test:
- Riders who have passed
a two part moped test
(not the one granted
with the full car licence)
or have already
passed a lower category of motorcycle test
The Theory Test
- This is a multiple choice question
theory test: 50 questions in 57 minutes requiring 43 correct answers, plus a hazard perception test (HPT)
of 14 video clips with 15 hazards to find, 44 points from a possible 75
to pass. Both tests have to be
completed and passed on the same visit. Fail either test and both have
to be retaken.
- The HPT is a series of
moving image film clips, featuring at least one hazard. Candidates are
to respond to the hazard by pressing a button.
- The cost of the theory
test is £28.50 and will last approx 80 minutes.
